When we are afraid of our feelings

"We fear they will lead us astray and make our lives go out of control, like driving a car without a hand on the wheel. We fear our feelings will make us do things that people our feeling and thinking and society won't approve of. We fear our feelings are selfish, improper, irrational, and incorrect.
And so we stop trusting our feelings, preferring instead to trust what we are told and taught is right, correct, and decent.
Consider that what you or I feel is never wrong. It may not always be the right signpost as to what you should do, but it is right to have the feeling because that feeling is YOU, your own essential self.
When you attempt to sail against the wind of YOUR feelings you loose yourself, and become a mask with no real life behind it."
